Вышедшие из них люди проникли в здание, угрожая охране оружием и предъявив ксерокопию свидетельства на право собственности на здание. Как свидетельство было выдано управлением Росреестра по Москве — неизвестно, ведь по зданию велся хозяйственный спор, и до 30 июля судом на него был наложен арест. Как выяснилось позже, люди, проникшие в здание, были представителями компании «КСК-Инвест» и сотрудниками ЧОПа из Псковской области. Также с ними был сотрудник полиции (предположительно ОВД «Китай-город»), который не представился и не предъявил удостоверения. Рейдеры поднялись на 5-й этаж здания, где в это время находились сотрудники компании «Эко-Полис» (собственника помещения) и компании-арендатора. Рейдеры заявили, что ЧОП берет здание под охрану, и находящиеся в нем люди будут выпускаться только с предъявлением паспорта и «с минимальным набором личных вещей». На глазах у сотрудников представители «КСК-Инвест» сменили замки на входной двери. Действия захватчиков были незаконными: у них не было решения суда о выселении, с ними не было судебных приставов, они не имели права выгонять арендаторов. Но вызванные собственниками полицейские никак им не помешали.
